About Stella Blues

For over 16 years, Stella Blues has been New Haven’s unpretentious home for live music, cold drinks, and community connection. Rooted in the improvisational spirit of the Grateful Dead, Stella has long served as a launchpad for rising jam bands and genre-bending artists—hosting early performances from now-national acts like Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Goose, Twiddle, Baked Shrimp and more.

Live music fills the room six nights a week. Our stage has welcomed everything from high-energy funk collectives to intimate solo acts, experimental DJs, and multimedia showcases. With a tight connection between performers and audience, the energy is always alive—raw, real, and close enough to feel the vibration in your chest.

But Stellas is more than a music venue. It’s a neighborhood bar with heart.

Inside, you’ll find two fully stocked bars, a pool table, dart boards, vintage arcade games, and a spacious back patio perfect for catching up between sets. Whether you're here to dance, discover new music, or just unwind with friends, Stella Blues offers something familiar—and something unexpected.

We champion independent music, multimedia art, and the weird, wonderful energy that makes New Haven. We’re proudly community-driven and ever evolving. Our space is built on inclusivity—open to everyone with a shared love for music, expression, and good energy. No judgment. Just good vibes.

Come for the music. Stay for the people, the conversation, and the kind of night that becomes a memory.
